The Model “H” Tractor went into regular production mode in January 1939, after the first of them was built in October 1938. Production was soon halted, as the original cast crankshafts were deemed to be unsatisfactory over the long haul and were replaced by the drop-forged, special-quality steel type of other John Deere Tractors. Consequently, publication and distribution of this 36-page page literature was delayed until March 1940. It states the correct crankshaft material.
